Updated Autism Resource Guide

The CT Autism Spectrum Resource Center has updated their Autism Resource Guide.  This 300 page book is filled with information valuable for assisting people of any age who are on the autism spectrum.  We are fortunate to have a guide available that is specialized to the programs, resources, and laws of Connecticut.  The guide is available from the CT-ASRC for $30 including shipping.  We've purchased one copy for the FAVAN library.  Take a look at it at the upcoming meeting.

Other Support Resources in Connecticut

There are several other Connecticut organizations that provide supports for individuals and/or families of individuals on the autism spectrum.  Every group differs in its focus and the type of support provided.  Here's a short list of the groups in Connecticut:

The Autism  Society of Connecticut hosts an annual conference with nationally known speakers.  There are also support groups in Hartford, Groton/New London, Killingworth/Haddam, East Hampton, and Madison.

The CT Autism Resource Center publish the resource guide listed above and sponsors a large number of workshops and courses.  ASRC also sponsors an annual Autism Resource Fair in which professionals and representatives from educational, therapeutic, and support organizations from across the state gather in one place for families.

The Litchfield County Autism Spectrum Association is a group of families and professionals providing support in the Litchfield/Torrington area.

The Connecticut Families for Effective Autism Treatment is a volunteer organization providing families with information and networking opportunities.
