Upcoming Meetings

There is no meeting in August.  We return to our monthly schedule in September.

The next meeting of FAVAN is Tuesday September 26 at Simsbury United Methodist Church. It will be an open discussion meeting and will be in the parlor adjacent to the hall we usually meet in.

In October we're having our first ever Men's Night Out on Tuesday October 3 at J. Timothy's restaurant in Plainville from 7pm till whenever.  J. Timothy's wings are some of the best in the area.   Please call Shawn at 860-589-0097 to RSVP.   

The October meeting will be October 19 and will be a special joint meeting of FAVAN and the Northwest Connecticut Support Group. It will be held at FOCUS in Canton. Note that this is on a Thursday night. Donna Swanson, Executive Director of FOCUS will be the speaker.

Conferences

Barry Prizant, Carol Gray, and an adult with ASD, Ros Blackburn will be presenting a one day conference titled Straight Talk about Autism: Mind your A's and B's (Attitudes and Beliefs)!!  It will be in NYC on October 21 and in Springfield, MA on October 23. We will be at the CT Council on Developmental Disabilities Expo on September 16. We are suppose to be grouped with LaCasa, Asconn, ASRC and other ASD groups. For more information see www.ct-dac.org

Announcements

A group of parents is planning a short hike for kids on the spectrum on Sunday, October 15 at 2 pm.  Plan to meet at the Harwinton Parks and Rec site at the intersection of Rt. 4 and Rt 118 in Harwinton.  The hike is about 1 mile long.
